Black Buddafly is an African German American R&B duo composed of the twin sisters Amina (blonde hair, full name Aminata Schmahl) and Jazz (brown hair, full name Safietou Schmahl). They were born in 1983 to a German mother and a Senegalese father; their family also included an older sibling, Sophie, who was a member of the group until 2006, and a younger sister and brother. While touring in 2004, the group changed their name to Black Buddafly. Around that time they met and impressed Russell Simmons, and he signed them to his label RSMG.
